Patriots Match Best Winning Streak Since Tom Brady Years with Triumph Over New York Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has recorded five scores during the current campaign
New England equaled their top unbeaten stretch since the Brady era as they beat AFC East rivals the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three TDs as the Patriots notched an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's final season with the franchise in the 2019 season
QB Maye accumulated 281 yards and a score, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The triumph extends the New England's lead at the summit of the AFC East as they advanced to a 9-2 record, with the Jets bottom after falling to two victories and eight defeats
The visitors had gone in front at Gillette Stadium with QB Fields rushing for a short rushing score to conclude the New York's opening drive
But the home team answered in the second period as the rookie rushed for two seven-yard TDs before the running back hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third period to make it 21 to 7
"That was a key occasion for him rising to the challenge, and it's been fantastic for him to keep earning playing time," Maye said of the rookie. "He aims to be great."
Fields threw to Metchie in the latter part of the third period to close the gap for the Jets but Borregales converted a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the home side closed out the victory
